Terms of use

Last updated: 12 September 2026 Welcome to CS17 Business Calculator Workshop, part of the CS17 Tools collection. By accessing or using this website and its business calculators, you agree to these Terms of Use.

1. About CS17 Business Calculator Workshop

CS17 Business Calculator Workshop provides browser-based calculation tools designed to help users explore common business scenarios involving pricing, markup, margin, discounts, profit and break-even points. The website is intended to provide practical calculation assistance for general business planning and comparison purposes.

2. General Information Only

CS17 Business Calculator Workshop is provided for general informational and calculation purposes only. The website does not provide accounting, taxation, financial, legal, commercial or professional business advice. Calculator results should not be treated as a recommendation to enter into a transaction, change prices, make an investment, alter staffing, enter into a contract or make another important business decision.

3. Accuracy of Calculations

We aim to provide useful and accurate calculations. However, we do not guarantee that every calculation or result will always be accurate, complete or appropriate for a particular business or purpose. Results depend on the figures entered by the user and the assumptions used by the calculator. You are responsible for checking that the information you enter is correct and suitable for the calculation being performed.

4. Markup and Margin Calculator

The Markup & Margin Calculator provides estimates based on cost price and selling price. Markup and margin are different calculations. Markup generally compares profit to cost, while margin generally compares profit to selling price. Users should make sure they understand which calculation is appropriate for their business purpose.

5. Target Markup and Target Margin

The workshop may allow users to calculate a suggested selling price from a chosen target markup or target margin. These results are mathematical estimates only. A calculated selling price may not account for factors such as GST, VAT, sales tax, freight, labour, merchant fees, discounts, overheads, market conditions or other business costs.

6. Discount Calculator

The Discount Calculator estimates sale prices and discount amounts based on the figures entered. The Reverse Discount Calculator may also estimate an original price from a known sale price and discount percentage. These calculations do not verify whether a particular advertised discount, promotion or pricing arrangement complies with applicable consumer law.

7. Profit Calculator

The Profit Calculator estimates gross profit, net profit and related margins based on revenue, cost of goods or materials and other expenses entered by the user. Actual business profit may differ because not all relevant costs may have been included. These may include labour, insurance, rent, utilities, finance costs, depreciation, taxes, GST or VAT, merchant fees, freight, wastage, returns, professional fees and other expenses.

8. Break-even Calculator

The Break-even Calculator estimates the sales volume required for revenue to cover fixed and variable costs. Break-even calculations depend heavily on correctly identifying fixed costs and variable costs. If costs have been omitted or classified incorrectly, the result may not reflect the actual break-even point of the business.

9. Target Profit Calculator

The Target Profit feature estimates the number of units and level of revenue that may be required to reach a chosen profit target. The result assumes the selling price, variable cost per unit and fixed costs remain consistent with the figures entered. Actual business conditions may change over time.

10. Taxes

CS17 Business Calculator Workshop does not automatically include GST, VAT, sales tax, income tax or other taxes unless specifically stated. Users are responsible for determining whether tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive figures are appropriate for their circumstances. Tax treatment can vary depending on the country, business type, product, service and transaction. For important taxation matters, appropriate advice should be obtained from an accountant or tax professional.

11. Quotes and Pricing

The calculators may be useful for exploring pricing and quoting scenarios, but they do not guarantee that a calculated price will be profitable or commercially suitable. Before issuing an important quote or setting a selling price, users should consider all relevant costs and business conditions.

12. Business Decisions

You are responsible for determining whether a calculation is appropriate for your circumstances. Before making an important commercial, financial, taxation or accounting decision, you should independently verify relevant figures and, where appropriate, obtain advice from an accountant, tax professional, lawyer, financial adviser or other suitably qualified professional.

13. Information Entered Into the Calculators

Information entered into CS17 Business Calculator Workshop is generally processed within your web browser for the purpose of performing the requested calculation. The calculators are not designed to require confidential or sensitive information. You should avoid entering passwords, banking credentials, payment card information, private customer records or other sensitive information into calculator fields.

14. No Account Required

You do not currently need to create an account or sign in to use CS17 Business Calculator Workshop. If account-based or saved-calculation features are introduced in the future, additional terms may apply.
